Brilliant Stars (2022)

Brilliant Stars (2022)

Brilliant Stars is the 2022 Sword & Shield set that introduced the Trainer Gallery, a bonus subset numbered separately from the main set that puts Pokémon alongside the trainers who use them. It changed what people expected from a modern set, and the idea stayed for the rest of the era.

The set itself

Charizard VSTAR is the headline card, and VSTAR is the mechanic the set was built around — a once-per-game power attached to the card rather than a new evolution line. A strong new mechanic and a Charizard on the front has kept interest in Brilliant Stars steady long after it left general distribution.

Formats we stock

Brilliant Stars is unusually well served for smaller buys. As well as booster boxes, Elite Trainer Boxes and loose booster packs, this collection includes several blister formats: single-pack and three-pack blisters with Eevee, Flapple, Glaceon and Leafeon artwork, a premium pack blister, and the Build & Battle Stadium. Blisters are the sensible choice if you want to open something without committing to a full display, while the Build & Battle Stadium is aimed at people who want to play rather than collect.
